Dream Bigger

DreamBigger

I have a question for you: Are you dreaming? Or are you planning?

I created a dream board which lists the things I would like to do and have done (mostly do). I felt very proud of my board. It had very good items listed such as obtaining a PhD and becoming an investor. Then yesterday I read something which questioned whether I was dreaming big enough. I revisited my dream board and determined that all the things I had listed are things that I could accomplish assuming I just focused on them.  It wasn’t a dream board. It was a plan board.  It consisted of items to check off a list . They were good goals and were stretch goals but they weren’t dreams, just plans.

When I think of dreams, I think of things that can’t be accomplished by my own. They are things out of reach and far away.  A dream is something to hope for. Something that disciple and focus alone won’t achieve. Something that is out of my control and would need some sort of divine intervention. This is an art that many forget as they grow up. When I was younger my dreams were big. When I was about eight years old my dream was to marry Magic Johnson. I just knew  it would happen.  Later in life I realized that dream wasn’t the best for me. I learned that people don’t stop getting older after they turn 25. I learned he lived on the opposite coast. Most importantly I learned he was already married!  However divine intervention came and gave me something better, a chance to meet him.

If you are going to plan, you might as well dream. If you are going to dream, then dream bigger!
