Years ago I had an interesting dream. It was about my plan to go blonde and buy an expensive wardrobe so I could look the part and get promoted. The funny thing is that during the dream a voice said- It’s not about how you look or how you dress. It is about what you have on the inside.
So many times we define career potential by the wrong things but potential should be based on the things that cannot change as simply as a new car or that killer new suit. Passion, Drive, Influence, Listening- these are some of the things that you have to look for.
During a retirement party for a CIO, I asked him for advice on a successful career. He said- Although this sounds simple- treat everyone with respect. Wow it is such a simple thing to enact – but so many people don’t know how to do it.
So I challenge you – look under the covers to see who you are; do you have the traits that will help you be successful in Ur career?
