Everyone has dreams and aspirations. Some live out their dreams while others fall short. For those of us (myself included) who do realize our dreams, this post may be for you! As I observe people in life and reflect on my own, I realize that man people define their dream too narrowly. When we do this, our dreams aren’t realized, or the opportunity never presents itself. More importantly, we are so focused on what the dream looks like, we miss out on other things. Sometimes we must redefine our dreams. If I solely focus on winning an Olympic gold medal in the high jump, I may not realize that I am better suited to win a medal in another sport. As you think about your dreams consider the following questions:
- Is my dream too specific (or broad)?
- Am I being truly honest in what I want?
- What limits am I placing on my dream?
- What are the pathways to take me to my dream?
- What are the pathways I need to avoid?
